| Gil Magilen,
Ph.D. - Founder and Director of Hearing
Centers Network |
From its beginning in 1987, Hearing Centers Network
has developed hearing services
software, diagnostic testing methods, and fine-tuning
instrumentation. It has provided analyses of
industry practices to the hearing aid industry and
is currently focusing on raising consumer awareness.
Hearing aid consumers need
straightforward information regarding hearing aids
and hearing loss. Very little of the
information a hearing aid consumer needs to make an
informed purchase is readily available to them.
Hearing Centers Network is dedicated to empowering
consumers so they will not waste valuable time or
money on inadequate hearing aids. At the
Hearing Centers Network location you can count on
proficient practitioners, state-of-the-art
technology, trustworthy information, and sincere
support services.
About Gil Magilen
Gil Magilen, founder and director of
Hearing Centers Network, runs two
dispensary clinics in the San Francisco Bay
Area (one based in Walnut Creek, the other
in Vallejo). He has been at the forefront of
modern developments in hearing assistance
technology for over 20 years. Dr. Magilen earned his Ph.D. in Biophysics from
the University of California, Berkeley, an
M.S. in Biology from Long Island University,
and a B.S. in Natural Science from Iowa
Wesleyan College. This was followed by
neuroscience research at the University of
California, San Francisco funded by the
National Institute on Aging. An
interest in hearing problems took him from
the laboratory into the clinic. A
continuous student of cognitive
neuroscience, he is a lecturer and author of
articles on the use of scientific
technologies for the complex task of tuning
hearing aids to maximize user satisfaction.
Dr. Magilen is committed to transforming the
hearing aid industry from a sales and delivery
system into a profession that responsibly applies
sound processing technologies for individual needs.
He
has recently received a patent from the United
States Patent and Trademark Office pertaining to the
objective clinical fine-tuning of hearing aids for
the hearing impaired. He continues to be a
tireless clinician, supervising a carefully chosen
staff of hearing professionals. Working
directly with a wide range of patients, he discovers
the source of their hearing deficits and provides
them with his best possible solution.
